Linear Systems developed the first version of their Digital Information Management Systems (DIMS) over 15 years ago.  Originally created by and for Law Enforcement to manage images for early adopters of Digital Photography, DIMS has grown to manage all forms of electronic evidence.  This includes not only digital photography but voice and video evidence.  DIMS was the first system designed specifically for Law Enforcement.  Linear works closely to maintain compliance with SWGIT, ASCLD and 28CFR standards.  DIMS works for both small and large agencies and scales to meet the needs of growing departments.  Linear has worked closely with Law Enforcement for the last 10 years to add product and feature sets that fit departmental workflow and best practice scenarios.  DIMS becomes an agency’s highly automated implementation of established Policy and Procedures.

DIMS is the ONLY solution designed to give total ownership of the data contained within it to the department using it.  With DIMS you are not stuck having to pay for unneeded upgrades, conversion fees, or maintenance fees to a less than forthcoming software company that has your data held hostage in proprietary formats.  By design, DIMS stores assets in non-proprietary, industry standard formats and Linear provides your department the ability to easily interface with many other database applications, such as CAD, RMS, or LIMS.  Embedded multi-level security prevents challenges to authenticity or validation of digital evidence while giving administrators, and the staff that they authorize, access photo, audio, or video evidence and metadata in a Windows based browser or a web interface viewer.  Because of the uncertainty of budgetary constraints in Government, Linear Systems has opted to provide a software maintenance plan for the DIMS product that includes:

DIMS Core Software

DIMS Core is a complete implementation and automation of Policy and Procedures for management of digital images, audio, and video including a comprehensive chain of custody, audit trail, and enhancement history.  DIMS creates a totally redundant workflow maintaining original evidence with working copies on multiple repositories.  DIMS also provides automatic RAW file conversions that are completely accurate, without applying look-up tables, for quantitative, qualitative, or comparative analysis.  DIMS Core is available as software only or with DIMS Enhanced Download Stations and DIMS Server repositories.  DIMS Core Solutions are perfect for a small to large size organization that requires chain of custody, security, reliability, redundancy, and management of digital evidence from several download sites with multiple users.

DIMS ImageServer

DIMS ImageServer is a hardware and software system solution that provides additional features, performance, scalability, and expandability for the management of digital evidence.  The DIMS ImageServer is designed as a secure centralized repository to collect data directly from systems running DIMS Core software.  ImageServer adds a customized searchable database, a web based browser access with unlimited user licenses, and a very powerful advanced security protocols to control access and log tracking.  In addition, the DIMS ImageServer system includes from 5.0TB to 200TB of redundant storage utilizing the DIMS Dynamic Volume Allocation Array technology for painless storage upgrades and includes Quality of Service (QOS) for the intelligent management of network bandwidth.  DIMS ImageServer Solutions are perfect for a mid to large size organization that requires chain of custody, security, reliability, redundancy, and management of digital evidence from multiple sites with a large number of users.
