Linear Systems Enters International Markets

May 15, 2010 - Rancho Cucamonga, California USA and London, UK.

Linear Systems, the leading provider of digital information management solutions to US law enforcement, introduces DIMS to police and government agencies in Europe and beyond.

Since it’s inception in 1988 Linear Systems has become the leading provider to US law enforcement and public safety agencies of complete software and hardware systems for the management of digital information, especially when collected in the course of forensics investigations. DIMS (Digital Information Management System) offers public safety clients a complete solution to capture and secure digital evidence from any source including photo, video, and audio recordings. This includes not only acquisition, but also the indexing, storage, archiving, security, chain of custody, and dissemination of this information. DIMS provides secure access to those involved in the review and prosecution of cases, when and where they need it, while securing evidentiary integrity and preventing unauthorized access and distribution.

With over 500 installations throughout the United States, interest in the Linear Systems solution is growing rapidly in Europe and Asia and the company has now set its sights on replicating it’s US status as ‘supplier of choice’ to police, fire and military organizations, in these new markets.
Announcing the move, Linear’s Founder and CEO Chris Parsons said,

“Linear has been focussed on satisfying demand for our technology in the USA since we launched DIMS into the market over 15 years ago. We have deferred opportunities outside the USA even when they’ve come knocking on our door, however we know that future growth will depend upon taking Linear’s market leading technologies beyond the shores of North America and that now is the time to launch that initiative to coincide with the upcoming release of DIMS 2. Furthermore, the demand for DIMS exists today around the world and the markets won’t wait! DIMS has evolved to address any and all digital information and evidence management needs in law enforcement and localization is the only requirement to exceeding expectations wherever we take DIMS.”

Linear has recently forged a partnership in Canada and is now establishing a representative office in the United Kingdom from where they will drive initial entry into the European markets. Parsons explained, “Public Safety agencies in the US and abroad have an ever increasing variety of digital information sources, with very stringent management and workflow requirements. We are now ‘open for business’ in Europe, where the same demands we have found in the US for managing digital information and maintaining ‘chain of custody’ control are driving interest in our system capabilities.”

Managing Director of Linear’s International Office in the UK, Greg Tanner, commented “The proliferation of digital files used in forensics investigations are creating new challenges for organizations seeking to secure the information in its original format, keep it safe from unauthorized access and distribution, provide easy access to police and other officials, all whilst maintaining a complete history of who accessed the files, when and what was done with the image or recording, and a record of any non-destructive enhancement of images and recordings to ensure effective prosecutions. DIMS answers all those questions and more. And with a highly satisfied user base of over 500 organizations in the USA providing enthusiastic reference sites, agencies in international markets can be confident that the products are very well-proven and tested.”

Linear is working towards establishing its first pilot systems in the UK and will be increasingly working with local partners in other parts of the world. Parsons added “Linear’s management team and the entire company is clearly excited at this significant step in our history – we are delighted to be working with Greg in our international expansion. His track record and experience in taking other American technology companies into new markets is outstanding and we will be doing all we can to ensure the success of his team’s efforts.”
